From carpet to hardwood and even ceramic, Mohawk knows how important it is to do its part to help the planet. It may be hard to believe, but Mohawk manufactured ceramic tile is manufactured in plants that do not produce one drop of waste water. In 2006 alone, Mohawk recovered and reused more than 55 million gallons of wastewater.

And it doesn't stop there. Mohawk Ceramic Manufacturing has made significant efficiency improvements including upgrading to newer fuel-efficient equipment, decreasing downtime with kiln loading, and even turning off burners. Lighting has been replaced to utilize high performance T8 fluorescent bulbs and occupancy sensors have been installed throughout facilities. All in all, these changes have resulted in savings that equal enough natural gas to fuel more than 6,000 homes for an entire year and enough electricity to service more than 1,700 homes.

In addition to efficiency improvements, Mohawk uses by-products from internal and external manufacturing processes to keep the use of raw material such as clay, shale, and other rock-like minerals to a minimum.

Mohawk manufactured ceramic is just another product manufactured in a way that demonstrates a true commitment to the environment.
